About Me

I've been a board gamer (table top gamer) my entire life, but never realized it until I fell in with a wacky group of D&D folks in college. In fact, through D&D I met my wonderful husband.

See, growing up I spent a lot of time with my grandparents. Board  and card games were popular when they were kids (in the 1920s) and they shared that love with me. In fact, at one point my grandmother helped me create my own Wizard of Oz board game out of a paper bag and crayons.

So, sitting around a table with friends / family and playing games is a natural happy thing for me and something I enjoy sharing with others - regardless of age or gender.

I decided to start this blog after some very minor peer pressure via social media and after observing a mom and her daughter interact with the owner of a local game store. The gent behind the counter was apologizing for not having many games for kids or families. And I thought, "Well-hell, why can't they play the games he currently had on the shelves? After all our 7 year old does...." and thus Mama of Boardom was born.

Presently my husband and I are sharing our love of board gaming with our daughters - granted one of them would prefer to chew on the game pieces at this time - but we have no doubt that she will soon be sitting around the table with us ready to hold her own cards and roll her own set of dice.

So I hope you enjoy this one woman's perspective on board games and don't be offended if an occasional PC game finds its way on these pages. Although - don't hold your breath for a console game review -- that ain't happening.
